Jazz is a very calm, relaxed pup. He’s easy to train because he is attentive and able to focus without being overly distracted.
“Circle” is a behavior that can be a fun parlor trick, but it’s also used as a Service Dog task to alert or respond to a medical event.
We teach young puppies to refrain from jumping up on people. That’s a hard pill for them to swallow since, once they are around 5 weeks old their mother will often stand to nurse them. The puppies need to stand on their hind legs to get a meal, so they likely consider the behavior one that will end in a positive result. But, we correct them. Still, the behavior of “Paws Up” can be a useful Service Dog task and it is to be presented on command, only. The pup must also get off the handler when requested.
Combining tasks. Here Jazz is asked to sit, come, paws up and off.
“Interactive Toy” I put treats in a toy that is designed to hold treats that fall out as the dog manipulates it. Jazz uses his nose to roll the toy which then rewards him for his effort. Fun.
Jazz is available to the right home. He will make an absolutely exceptional family companion, hobby sports dog (Agility, Nose Work, Obedience etc….)
