Natural Retrieving

I am keen to reinforce / praise a pup’s natural desire to retrieve.

Circle is a behavior that can be implemented as an Alert task (like diabetic detection of low/high blood sugar scent or a “shift from normal” like an impending seizure, panic/anxiety attack or PTSD episode.)

Sit Up is just a cute parlor trick that, I suppose could be used in Service Dog work. I usually only take the time to capture it when the pup presents it, first. Rhyme is such a cutie and loves to learn, so it was fun to see her experiment about what might please me!

Paws Up

This is a behavior that we routinely tech to service dogs because it can be morphed into so many possible tasks, like interrupting a “shift from normal episode” or providing “deep pressure therapy” or “grounding” for the handler. Jumping up without a specific request is not acceptable. So, it’s important to be clear with the pup regarding when we want her to perform the behavior and also that when told to “off” she does so quickly.

Rhyme is available as a family / individual companion that would make an exception Therapy Dog. We would also love to place her as a Service Dog to the right individual.
